There are many types of digestive complaints ranging from common issues such as bloating and acid reflux through to more serious conditions such as Ulcerative Colitis and Crohns Disease. All of these can be attributed to your microbiome in some way and the types of bacteria housed in the gut.
Irritable bowel syndrome is the most common gastrointestinal disorder with worldwide prevalence ranging generally in the area of 10–15% of the population and is the third biggest cause of absenteeism at work. Stress can also be a prominent factor in developing and worsening IBS symptoms.
Recent research has found there to be some success in inducing remission in ulcerative colitis patients through the use of faecal microbiota transplants. In simple terms this is a process of taking faeces from a healthy donor, extracting the beneficial intestinal bacteria and yeasts from it and then transplanting it into the colon of a recipient. It is also sometimes referred to as a stool transplant.
There are, however, much less drastic ways off affecting your microbiome and many people have done just that through our Gut Reset Programme. Take a look at some testimonials below.
